Facial Seborrheic Dermatitis Natural Treatment
Hello again ladies (and possibly gentlemen :) )
So this is going to be a quick post regarding facial Seborrheic Dermatitis, for those that may not know, this is like a facial form of dandruff (sort of). It results in an overproduction of oils and scaling of the skin. Usually on the eyebrows and nose fold areas but can affect anywhere on the face. I suffer from this and I'm gonna tell you it's ANNOYING!!
I've been struggling for remedies to deal with this issue and a lot require prescription medicated creams and cleansers that usually have potential side effects, eewww!
I did however find a simple, natural solution that I plan to give a try and figured I would share with all of you, in case any of my readers suffer with this issue as well!
So it's simple really, SEA SALT!
The instructions for treating Facial Seborrheic Dermatitis naturally are:
Find a really high quality sea salt, preferrably dead sea salt or another that has a very high mineral content and mix a few tablespoons in a bowl of very warm water.
Let it sit for a few minutes while you splash warm but not too warm water on your face to open your pores.
Then simply splash the solution on your face a few times and rinse with plain water!
Do this twice a day and if you don't feel too much tightness than skip the moisturizer after the treatment, if your skin does feel terribly uncomfortable and tight use a little moisturizer after treatment but try to go with an all natural moisturizer (always try to use a natural moisturizer, too many have nasty chemicals that are terrible for your skin!)
After you notice the Seborrheic Dermatitis is clearing up you can cut back on the amount of treatments you do, it will be a balancing act and everyone is unique in this aspect so just do the sea salt rinse when you feel your skin is reverting back.
I'm gonna be giving this a try myself and will check back with you on my progress!! Good luck all, I hope this helps!!

Get Spring Ready with Coconut Oil!!
I've heard on more than one occasion that the reason many women aren't joining the natural hair & skincare movement is that they find it too time consuming or complicated. The internet is riddled with recipes for this or that, and women are overwhelmed by the information or preparation processes :(I'm going to make it all very simple today!! One ingredient, multiple uses!! I'm going to give you some inspiration to use this one VERY beneficial ingredient to achieve some incredible results in preparation for spring :)
COCONUT OIL!! We've all noticed the massive influx in posts and information on the internet regarding the many benefits of coconut oil, I'm going to bring this beauty must have back to the basics and provide you with some extremely easy how to use tips!!
I suggest you use an organic, virgin, cold-pressed coconut oil as it is the highest quality and will produce the best results!
Lets get started!! :)
Coconut oil for your hair:
What it will do
Give you shiny, more manageable, softer, healthier hair by infusing much needed nutrients right down to the root of your hair. Who doesn't want shinier, healthier hair that's easier to style??
Simple but effective application
All you have to do...are you ready for this??....take about a 1/4 to 1/3 cup of coconut oil (more or less depending on hair length and thickness) and apply it to dry hair!! Soak thoroughly, be sure to get right down to the root. Cover hair with towel or shower cap. Leave on for 15-60 mins depending on how much time you have (the longer the better) Rinse, shampoo and condition as normal. That's it!! You're done!! :) How easy is that?? You're hair will feel and look amazing! Do this once every few weeks and any damage you've caused from drying/styling or dying will be virtually undone :)
Coconut oil for your skin:
What it will do
Give you soft, moisturized skin, while reducing the harmful effects of the free radicals in our environment by infusing your skin with much needed nutrients.
Simple but effective application
I have a few options for you to try :)
First you can mix a half and half ratio with sugar or salt with coconut oil to exfoliate your face, super simple and quick!! Makes your face feel amazing.
Second you can use it as you would any other moisturizer after cleansing. Apply a small amount and work into your beautiful face in circular motion to stimulate circulation. Note: If you are prone to break outs, leave oil on your face for a few minutes than simply rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry to remove any excess oil.
Third and this is a great tip for getting your legs spring ready. Use coconut oil in place of your shave gel, you're going to get an incredibly close shave and the coconut oil will help to restore the lost moisture we've experienced during the awful, cold winter months!!
So obviously there are many more recipes and options when it comes to the uses of coconut oil, but I just wanted to get some of the simpler uses out there for anyone who hasn't fully committed to using all natural products or have been hesitant because it's been intimidating in it's complexity. As you can see it doesn't need to be complicated to be effective :) I hope you try these coconut oil applications and I'd love to hear some feedback, love it or hate it, I'd love to hear from you!!
Till next time

DIY All Natural Hair & Skincare-Honey, Cinnamon and Nutmeg Mask
Face masks give your skin a boost of hydration and nutrients. Masks are important because they’re the most concentrated, results driven products. Dermatologists recommend using a mask 3-4 times per week for the best results and maximizing their many benefits. Masks can be used to moisturize, detoxify, increase circulation and replenish nutrients.
What you will need:
1 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
2 tablespoons of raw honey (or regular if you don’t have raw)
Making this mask is super easy & customizable for your skin needs. Start with one teaspoon of nutmeg & one teaspoon of cinnamon. These measurements do not have to be precise and are only there for a guideline. After that mix in two tablespoons of honey & stir it up! Apply to entire face, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for 10-20 minutes (Or as long as you can, even 5 minutes will do wonders) Rinse with lukewarm water. No fuss, no muss, super simple and you're skin will feel and look amazing :) what more can a girl want?? ;)
DIY All Natural Hair & Skincare-Hydrating Lemon Face Scrub Recipe
Exfoliating increases cell turnover to reveal newer, healthier skin cells, plus it decreases blackheads, minimizes hyper pigmentation and fine lines, and imparts an all-over healthy glow. It also helps with hydration. Cells transitioning from below the skin’s surface to the topmost layer bring with them essential lipids and moisture.
- Do not use body exfoliators on your face as these tend to be coarser and could damage the sensitive skin on your face
- Do not apply makeup after exfoliating
- Exfoliate your neck also
- Always test on the back of your hand prior to applying on your face
- Exfoliate at night
- Exfoliate at least once or twice a week!
What you will need:
2 tablespoons sugar/salt
1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil (virgin, cold pressed) (I prefer coconut oil :) )
1/4 lemon or 2 drops of lemon essential oil
First mix the olive oil/coconut oil and sugar/salt together. Mix with the oil first so that the lemon doesn't dissolve the sugar/salt. Next cut the lemon in half and squeeze over the sugar/salt and oil. Mix thoroughly. (Feel free to adjust the recipe to your liking) Then apply to your face in gentle circles, careful not to press too hard (don't forget your neck)!! Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry :)
Your face should now feel incredibly smooth and hydrated. The lemon in this recipe will help brighten your complexion and the oil will hydrate deeply! Perfect combination :)
(excuse the awful picture, insomniacs unite!! lol)
basics so impressed too much perfume in products you buy anyone with sensitive skin will appreciate this
ReplyDeleteI too have very finicky skin, far too many additives in the mainstream products today :( My own skin problems were what pushed me to research and report on the all natural alternatives. I hope to provide some helpful information to you and others who suffer from the same issues as myself :)
